Yoga for Insomnia

Periodic wakefulness, difficulty in falling asleep, or waking up too early, are symptoms of insomnia. They can be transient and pass with life crises that cause them, or they can be chronic and associated with medical conditions, or medication. Insomnia can have many long-term effects, including daytime sleepiness and impairment, memory loss, and mood changes. Yoga can be beneficial in managing sleep problems.

 

Most cases of insomnia are related to poor sleep habits, depression, anxiety, lack of exercise, chronic illness, or certain medications.  Symptoms may include difficulty falling or staying asleep and not feeling well-rested.

 

In this workshop you will learn about the science of sleep and the importance of good sleep on your well-being. You will learn strategies to help manage all the ways sleep can be interrupted.  

 

We will explore various yoga poses to help the body prepare for sleep. Discover what poses to do before you go to sleep, or to help you get back to sleep!  You will also learn several breathing practices to calm the nervous system and will also investigate meditation techniques to facilitate getting to sleep.

Yoga for Headache and Migraine

The throbbing pain of an intense headache, sometimes accompanied by nausea, chills, fatigue, loss of appetite, numbness and sensitivity to light--no one wants to suffer through a migraine. Triggered by stress, certain foods, or some personal triggers, the attack begins in various nerve pathways and affects blood flow to the brain and surrounding tissue. A regular yoga practice can help reduce the number of migraine episodes you experience, and help keep them from occurring in the first place. When they do strike, the specific yoga poses and techniques that will be practiced and explained in the workshop, can ease the pressure tension in your head and make you more comfortable.

Yoga for Sciatica

Do you have sciatica (tenderness and pain anywhere along the sciatic nerve, typically showing up on one side of the body)? This is a problem as old as mankind itself, and it often has much to do with our postural habits. This online workshop will help you understand where your sciatica could be coming from (i.e., what daily habits can lead to or aggravate sciatica as well as where it originates in the body). Olga will also lead you through practices to stretch and strengthen a key muscle for sciatic pain relief: the piriformis. Also included are two practices you can do regularly: a short piriformis maintenance practice (useful for busy days) and a longer, more comprehensive piriformis practice. Use this workshop to accelerate your healing today!
